Our Ministries

Choir

Our choir meets weekly on Monday evenings at 6:00 P.M. in the Choir Room. We invite folks to come and join us as we sing praises to our God. We have special presentations throughout the year, mainly at Christmas and Easter. We have a great time of fellowship and singing. Please consider joining us!!!

Small Groups

Men's Bible Class - The men meet weekly in our chapel downstairs. This class is led by Skip Milton. We encourage all men to consider fellowshipping with this group of men.
Young Adults Class - This is a group of men and women who meet weekly in the conference room beside the church office. This class is led by Roger McClendon. Teaching is accomplished with the assistance of several volunteers who teach on a rotating basis. Ages are varied. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Ginther's Class - This group of men and women meet in the Parlor each week. A Zoom class is offered from this group. Its leaders are Terry and Phyllis Hutson. If you are interested in attending by Zoom, please contact the church office with your email and we will get the information to the leaders.

United Methodist Women

Fordyce First United Methodist Women meet monthly on the 2nd Thursday in Hope Hall, in conjunction with the Mary May Circle. These ladies are active in both the local church and community. Their focus is on helping those who may not have other resources available. They maintain an active card ministry which reaches out to shut-ins, nursing home, those who have lost loved ones and/or those going through a difficult time in their lives. They host bereavement meals, potluck lunches and a variety of special events throughout the year. United Methodist Global Ministries are supported throughout the year, with an emphasis on their food outreach. Each month, finger foods and drinks are provided for a sweet time of fellowship and devotions. Please consider joining these ladies. They have a great time! This group of ladies are led by Rebecca Whitehead and Sandra Lusinger.

United Methodist Men

Fordyce First United Methodist Men meet monthly on the first Wednesday at a local restaurant, Red's, which is located on Highway 79-167, at 7:00 A.M. Men come early to eat breakfast together, fellowship and have a devotion before going to work. These men also have a strong card ministry to shut-ins, nursing homes, those who have lost loved ones and/or going through a difficult time in their lives. These men are active in both the local church and community, assisting others however is possible. Please consider joining these great men each month in fellowship, devotions and food! A good time is had by all! These men are led by John Lockwood.

Lighthouse Ministry/Food Pantry

Our Lighthouse/Food Pantry Ministry is a vital outreach of Fordyce First United Methodist Church. 90% of all available food, clothing, household items, shoes and toys are donated, as well as the labor of the individuals who oversee this ministry. We are so blessed to be able to be the hands and feet of Jesus, especially when it comes to meeting everyday needs for the basic necessities of life.
Our Lighthouse Ministries have varied times throughout the year when the community can come in, pick out and take home their choices of clothing, shoes and/or household items. As well, our Lighthouse Ministries offers these same services to families and individuals who have lost their belongings in a fire, storm or other unseen situation.
Our Food Pantry is available throughout the week, as well. We pack up food appropriate for the family size, along with a Bible, to each family in need. We work closely with our local and state offices, receiving referrals from them routinely. Each family is greeted with open arms and thanked for allowing us to assist them in their needs. When allowed, we also offer a prayer over the family and their needs. Currently, our Lighthouse Ministries/Food Pantry are led by Cathy Brown.
